Hi ---Happy Easter! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Spring! Not Spring here, we got a foot of snow today here in Longview, AB. YUK! I want Spring!!!
I did get a little Spring, we took off for 10 days went to the most western coast of Canada, (the end of Canada) right to Tofino, the most western part of Canada. It was wonderful to see green and smell the ocean breeze, so wonderful to do nothing, eat and drank too much, went for walks every day, drove way too much, visited old and new friends, but good never the less.
I have a songwriting gig coming up May 4 in Red Deer, AB. Pretty cool it’s a songwriting circle night, so I am honoured to be a part of that!
May 2 I am receiving a prize; Le prix CHFA de la chanson albertaine in Edmonton, AB. I am very honored and humbled by this. I only have sung the last 20 years to feed my children and because I loved it and wanted to always keep my great grand father Joseph Plamondon’s dream alive; in keeping our heritage and culture alive! So this is a bonus!
In May I start to record a new record!!!
“Torch” I received a grant from Rawlco in Edmonton, AB. to record this. It has always been a dream of mine to sing “Torch” songs and now I get to record an album also! I started last March doing shows, and people loved it, and I loved it! I am so grateful to the Edmonton people for the grant, thank you. They are truly my peeps! Thank you to Arthur LaVertu, Mike Bradford, Brandy Jensen, Sandro Dominelli (who will produce it) Mike Lent, Chris Andrew. I am recording in Edmonton also. It will be released some time in September. Keep watching my site.
Bye for now, see you down the road...don’t forget to buy, buy, buy my new album “On a Song & a Prayer” and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
PS thanks Rob G

Hi everyone sorry it took so long, been very busy getting the new CD out there and recuperating from the 3 other CD releases that were wonderful!
Great response every where we went, met a lot of old and new friends, (& family) sold a lot of CDs and got great press and airplay from CKUA and CBC Radio & Radio Canada—keep on playing me----great work--- thanks!
March 19 we played at the Ironwood in Calgary. Michael Dangelmaier my graphic designer came up to play a song on accordion with us, that was awesome, in the 13 years we know each other first time we played together. My friend Lori-Lee Turcotte who sang back up on 2 songs on my record came to sing with me on the same 2 songs. That was a treat; her 3 beautiful, talented, daughters Renelle, Celine & Chante gave me this great red haired funkly dressed doll as a gift that night so it followed me to the final 3 shows on the road. Like the traveling gnome I guess. My sweetie Dayle brought me a yellow rose. Evelyne Asselin from Radio Canada TV did some filming, did a spot on me for the news; merci beaucoup. Special thanks to Pat, Joan, Colin, Mike & Cheryl. Thank you to all the Calgary folks!
March 20 we played in Red Deer. Beautiful sweet crowd; Doug Lowry did great sound, Rob Hamill (the photographer who did my pixs on the CD) was there and took more great shots. Such warm, responsive people, they make me feel so at home. Thanks to the Elks Hall and the Central Alberta Music Festival volunteers. Thank you to Joan & Mike. Can’t wait to see you all again August 15 when I am playing main stage Saturday at the festival.
March 21 we finished off in Edmonton at the Haven Social Club. You could tell it was a home town crowd. Boy were they rowdy…. I loved it! Wildest crowd yet, I guess cause a lot of family and friends from Plamondon and Edmonton area showed up, what a hoot.
My Mom and Dad were there and my brother Reg and sister-in-law Pat, my daughter Christie and boy friend Trevor. Christie got up to sing 1 song with me. She did it just for me, thank you Christie it meant so much for a Mom! She sang back up on 2 songs on the record. Shaun Johnston (the famous Alberta Actor aka Grandpa Jack on Heartland) and his beautiful wife Sue brought me a dozen roses, very nice, this girl will always accept roses! So many good friends & musicians I hadn’t seen in years, thank you so much for coming. It meant the world to me. Thank you to Brian, the gang at the Haven Social Club, Joan & Mike & Inger.
If I forgot anybody let me know I’ll catch you on the next blog, but I sure appreciate all the response I got thus far, thank you. I will have pictures from the CD releases up right away, I have a lot of great ones!
Talk to you next week, catch you down the road.
Happy Easter if I don’t talk to you till then... Crystal
